Ulrich chuckled softly and held his hand up, “Say no more. I’ll leave.” He scanned Kazumi up and down then muttered, “If you wanna talk, Kazumi.. Please do.” He then looked down as he walked back towards the school in the ‘cool’ way he did. Hands in his pockets and his feet shuffling.

Kazumi looked at her with a sheepish smile, “Thank you for that. I just don’t know who is on my side and who isn’t anymore.” She rubbed her neck gently then continued to walk, “Supposedly, it happened once you left.”

ANA lightly nodded her head as she walked. Her logs raced as she figured out what she was talking about. Her attempt of bring peace…her recent failure it seems.

"Yes…the time I left on purpose. It appears my attempt to bring you all peace from my brother had failed. I had hope and predicted a 50 percent drop in attacks from him if I was to leave. It was that reason I locked myself into the isolation of the core. But now I see it brought the negative side of you all slipping apart." ANA sighed as she walked.

She soon smiled and grabbed Kazumi’s hand. She gently tugged her towards a small willow tree. ANA let go of her to pull the branches apart to revel the small space beyond. It was a small and hidden gale. Various flowers bloom as the sun came down like rays through the branches of the various trees that made it a circle. A rabbit ran away as ANA entered.

"This place is very unique. I can be at peace here. For some reason, it is a small area the spectres of my brother cannot reach. Lyoko can still talk, but it is a rough connection. I can never stay here long before my systems get damaged by the magnetic waves this place has. But I do enjoy the peace and quiet of the time I can stay here. Come, there is a flat rock we may sit upon to avoid the stains of grass that would give this place away." ANA said as she gave a little dance around.

Kazumi smiled gently as the girl excitedly showered her the little utopia. She stepped inside and sat on a rock as she took a deep breath to relax. “This is amazing.” She didn’t feel as though this could be on the same property as Lyoko or Kadic. Nothing this relaxing could be with everything stressful, yet it was. “I missed you.. and this feeling.”

ANA smiled as she watched Kazumi observe the gale. She took a cleansing breath before she talked.

"Yes. I find this place quite relaxing. I deeply missed you as well. So please, tell me what happen as I slumbered in the core? I fear my brother cut the security camera feeds I used to use to watch you all. I have not been in contact with you all since my return last week." ANA asked as she set her mental timer to when she had to leave this spot in four hours.

Kazumi looked down then back at ANA sadly. “W-Well, once you left.. things became difficult. We no longer agreed with how to work with Lyoko. X.A.N.A. attacked less, but still did. And, for some reason, I was to blame. I was the one attacked, none of them were.” She sighed heavily then gasped suddenly, perking up in a scared way, “A-ANA.” She stood up, “Th-They are being controlled!”

"WHAT?!" ANA shot up and gasped. She reached out and held onto Kazumi’s hands. She needed to feel grounded as she listen to her words.

"What do you mean? Has brother countered your resistance?! What happen my little Kuniochi?" ANA asked, fear creeping into her face.

Kazumi stared at the ground, “Th-They pushed me away quickly and didn’t go to any classes. They talked softly and ..” She looked at ANA. “Your brother must have taken them over at the same time.”

Kazumi chuckled softly, “Hey, Alice. I missed you too. We have some catching up to do.” She smiled at her blonde friend.

The group stared at Alice a moment in silence. They knew she did not understand, but they also did not know how to fill her in.

Yumi finally glared at everyone and scolded, “You all don’t have the guts to face the truth! The words on their arms are for a reason. X.A.N.A.  didn’t just choose random words from a dictionary. We have two group members that can not be trusted!”

The group remained silent as Yumi grimaced. Ulrich took her girlfriend’s hand and whispered in her ear to try and calm her down a little.

—-

Kazumi looked in his eyes a moment. Why did she feel so weak? She never felt so vulnerable.. especially with him. But now she did.

William placed his forehead against hers. “One thing hasn’t changed.. my love for my girl.” He kissed her nose gently and took her hands.

Kazumi closed her eyes and interlocked their fingers. She rubbed his hands with her thumbs and whispered, “C-Can you still be mine? Even if we keep it a secret from the others?”

William smiled gently, “I thought you would never ask.” He pulled her close to him and didn’t let go.

Alice sighed as she looked over the troubled Yumi. She felt her heart give out knowing it was time she fully confess to her crime. If not to regain the trust of the people she cared for…then to at least get them to forgive Kazumi.

"No, he did not grab random words or random people. Both Kazumi and I committed crimes of various degrees. I’ll tell you mine in full honesty, but I leave it to Kazumi to tell you hers. It is not my place to say it. But all I can say is her crime is a result of mine. If anyone you should hate..is me." Alice said, rubbing her right arm. She felt tears form in the corner of her eyes as she looked to the group.

"It is hard for me to say it to you all. You guys have always been the closes thing I ever came across that remind me of home. The closes I ever come to feeling at peace as I’m dragged around. But I am guilty..of causing all of this."

"You all know I help created Lyoko on my world with Franz and Doodle. Franz handled XANA and help us with the transfer math formulas. But Franz did not see what I saw. I-I noticed as we used the returns of XANA’s growth. How he was growing smarter and bored. I-I was silently fearful of what he would do on his on, so I-I gave him a direction."

"I-I told XANA how I wanted Lyoko to become a video game. I told him I was going to need a villain. Something to fight against. He offered to be that villain for me once he finished destroying Project CARTHAGE."

"You see…that is my crime. I taught XANA various things then. I-I showed him military strategies, how to exploit weaknesses. I granted him access to the internet to read only. I-I help him make his monsters. Everything is my fault, I made XANA evil.  When I made mine like this, a ripple effect happen all over the other worlds. Their XANA’s changed as well, even yours. This war is my fault!" Alice explained as tears roll down her face. Before she could hear their reply, Alice ran and took off crying into the woods.

The warriors were stunned by her words. Yumi’s anger continued to rise, but she did not act upon it. Finally, Aelita bit her lip and ran after her sister. Odd followed shortly after. The others exchanged looks in silence as everything they heard began to be understood.

—-

Aelita and Odd ran quickly after her, both calling out her name, but not to harm her. They wanted to comfort her and help her. She had been through a lot without them.

Kazumi stayed close to William as they held each other. William knew her secrets and Alice’s. He had been the one to worry and stress Kazumi, but she forgave him. She did so without hesitation.

He whispered softly, “Let’s go back and resolve everything.”

Alice ran, letting her feet carry her as she felt her tears roll down her face . She did not stop as she heard the others behind her. She looked up as er feet carry her to the Hermitage. Alice wiped her tears and ran inside. She sprint up the stairs and stood by the door next to Aelita’s room.

Alice could tell the other Lyoko warriors never been in there. She grunted as she opened it. She looked around at the clearly playroom for Aelita. Alice sniffled and bent low. She hugged her legs in the middle of the room.

"This…should be Doodle and my room. Oh, why did I help that AI grow? I want to go home!" Alice cried. A small movement caused a book to move behind her. Alice turned as she gasped. A spectre grinned at the door. It grabbed Alice before she could get up.

"Welcome back…Alice-san!" It said into her ear. Before Alice could cry out, it cuffed her hand. Small electrical pulses washed over her and made her fall asleep. She watched the spectre drag her to the door to the sewers before she fully fell asleep.

Odd and Aelita chased her into the house. They got inside and Aelita panicked with quick breaths, “I-I’ll check downstairs. Y-You go upstairs, Odd!” She immediately sprint to the living room.

Odd nodded and ran up the stairs. “S-Sweetheart?!” He scurried from room to room as time ran out. He finally went to Aelita’s old room and saw a footprint. Alice’s. His eyes widened and he searched the room briefly then looked out the window, seeing the sewer entrance open. “AELITA! THE FACTORY NOW! I’LL CALL THE OTHERS!” He immediately called Ulrich as Aelita sprinted.

Kazumi giggled softly and pulled him closer to her. “W-We could always just.. stay here~” William smirked and kissed her lips again gently, before they both heard a loud power surge come from inside the factory. Kazumi grabbed his hand in fright and slowly removed her lips. The two looked in each other’s eyes and without a word, they sprinted into the factory.

"Yeah…" Alice said, watching Kazumi walk away. She turned to the closest world to her old friends she ever known and lightly sigh.

"Hey…. What’s been going on around here? Why is Kazumi so…distant? hat happen when that portal dragged me away in that weird farmhouse place?" Alice asked, concern filling her face.

Yumi grimaced as her cousin was mentioned. “You two wandered off. You two turned to X.A.N.A willingly. She decided to-” William cut her off, “She hates us.” The gothic man looked hurt and upset.. unlike ever before. He then looked toward Kazumi and began to follow her.

Ulrich and Yumi exchanged glances as Jeremie whispered, “We will talk later, if you would like to know. We have more important things to tend to.”

Kazumi ran to the bridge and stopped midway. She looked at the water below and sighed shakily. She felt so hurt and lost, X.A.N.A. had always been right. She looked at the scars on her arms that formed into the words of hatred.

Minutes passed, but she didn’t move, finally she felt a hand on her shoulder and a low voice that whispered, “Are you alright?”

Kazumi turned and looked into her ex-boyfriend’s eyes, “Why would I be?”

Alice nodded her head towards them as she rubbed her arms. The words that reaper guy gave her had faded as she traveled. But she still knew they spoke true.

Traitor…Betrayer….

It was all her fault, the worlds are all messed up because of her selfish act on her world. She had taught XANA the various military strategies and ways to find and exploit weaknesses. She had fear XANA when he was growing with the returns. Alice feared what XANA would of evolved into naturally. But she did not tell Franz or Doodle. She kept them to herself and wanted to use XANA to be the villain of the video game she hoped Lyoko to become. Now that AI is using her teaching to hurt the people she cares about..the people who still see her as a friend. No wonder Kazumi is distant…she heard Alice confess to this before she left. Her and William know her crimes to humanity. Now the muti-verse is dealing with her actions and it is all her fault.

"Yeah… I guess so. I better re-activate myself as a student at Kadic. For all Delmas knows, I was called away by my parents to a trip around the world. The message I send before I leave says I don’t know when I will be back. That way if I do re-enter a world, I can be a student again." Alice said to them in a hush tone. Never know when unwanted ears were around.

"So then…What more important thing do we need to discuss?" Alice asked, trying to change the subject to what this world’s Einstein wants to talk about.

They all nodded in understanding as she spoke. Many things had to be taken care of as the new academic season began. Yumi looked down and crossed her arms as Jeremie stuttered, “W-Well u-uh we c-can talk a-about Lyoko later.”
—-
Kazumi took a deep breath and looked at William. The blackette looked in her eyes and whispered, “I didn’t want to do it, you know that.” She whimpered softly, “Wh-What happened with everyone?”

Alice raised an eyebrow at them. They were dancing around something…. A shiver traveled down her spine. What could of happen to them?

"Clearly this is something on all of your minds, so let’s talk now. What has been going on with Lyoko? You guys have to tell me before we find ourselves in some predicament. You know that with me here XANA is bound to increase his attacks." Alice gently asked again.

Kazumi looked at ANA with a softer expression than before. She was used to being tough and standing her ground that she sometimes forgot how to allow herself to feel. She sighed softly then began to explain a short version of why she left.

"It wasn’t that the curriculum was difficult or that the life threatening adventures kept me up at night.. because they weren’t." She cleared her throat and placed her pale hands into her jacket’s pockets. She softly continued, "It was that our frie- your friends thought of me differently than I thought of them." She tried to hide her sadness, "Things went downhill faster than you could say ‘X.A.N.A.’."

ANA kept the smile on her face as she listen. She glanced behind them as other kids from Kadic were entering the courtyard. She walk and wiggle her arm between Kazumi’s arm and body. If anyone saw them, they would see ANA offering her a side hug.

"It sounds like a data chain that should be a private matter. If you let me, I can guide us to this small valley in the park that I find…soothes the inner processor. Or in the case of a human, soothes your heart and mind." ANA gently whispered as she nudged towards the woods.

Kazumi nodded gently, “I need something like that.. Why did everything fall apart?” She began to sneak towards the forest with her friend. She saw Ulrich out of the corner of her eye and quickly looked away as he approached them.
He called out, “Kazumi! ANA! Can I come?”

ANA lightly shook her head towards her. How the warriors seem to change and drift is beyond her hard drives.

"I fear I don’t have the data on that inquiry. The social war and treaties of you humans are a bigger mysteries then the inquiry into the universe itself. You will have to tell me your own account of what transpired." ANA gently told her.

ANA noticed the way Kazumi looked away from Ulrich. She gently squeeze her to say she will handle it.

"Greetings my little samurai. I have decided to partake on one-on-one social gathering with all of you. I wish to learn of ways to be human so as to acquire other friends. So if it alright, I wish to have…girl time with my little Kunochi. I wish to learn why girls enjoy the coloration of their hand nails as a social event." ANA explained to Ulrich, hoping it will scare him away.
